Wave, wood you?
Things are not always as straight as you’d think. Designer Matthias Pliessnig tries to use the wood’s „free will”. He wants to show that wood is not the rectilinear material that we know and use. „The processes I am using combines boat building techniques with furniture building techniques”, while showing the true elastic possibilities of this material. The resultant wood chairs are not only beautiful but also different. Their organic shape seems to assume the natural deformations implied by the weight of someone sitting on. It’s all a way of playing with the material without loosing control.
