Sliders instead of escalators?

The sliders created by Carsten Höller are for now just an extravagant work of art but who knows….they might become part of our everyday life. So it would be an indescribable experience or would you describe it like Roger Caillois as a “voluptuous panic upon an otherwise lucid mind”? Would you take the sliders instead of the escalators just to find out?

Just like Höller’s early works, the sliders installed in the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern Museum, tried to question human behavior, perception and logic, offering the possibility for self-exploration in the process. Until they will be actually introduced in London’s public spaces (if they will) they remain an interactive work of art intended to create not only an inner experience but a visual spectacle as well. If you don’t feel like using them you can still watch people sliding down. Curious sculptures, these sliders are a work of art, even appreciated from the outside.
