New Angel of Islington
Art and commercial spaces can actually go along very well? Wolfgang and Heron designed in Islington, London a sculpture which guards the main entrance of the N1 retail plaza. Delicate steel wings spread above a flat cylinder which seems to close in its own shell, leaving only a faint crack for light to come in. The angel sculpture creates a great scenery, but it would maybe look better in front of a convent. The sacred entrance look gives me the impression of a glorified institution of commerce, an image in fact not far from today’s society.
