How to become an island

The house is in Chongqing, central China, and this town is considered to be the fastest growing urban centre in the world, with more than 4million residents. But some don’t seem to agree with so many changes, especially when their home is involved. This family refused the large sum of money offered by the developer and decided they won’t move. So their home was left on its own concrete island (12 m high) in the middle of the site. I wonder how the building would look like with this house somewhere inside a fancy new building. Could this be an architectural challenge?

Still, somehow I don’t think this home is going to last there for long……
