In Helsinki a new residential complex is going to emerge on the site of a former power plant, Hanasaari. ALA, the young architecture studio which won the competition, presented a different and daring approach.The terraced blocks have a wave like form that offers almost every apartment a fabulous view toward the sea. Inside their enclosed plan, the buildings display an inner court. This green landscape becomes an excellent second view for regular apartments and for the large terraced penthouses. The construction will start once the Hanasaari power plant will be demolished in 2008.
