Glass bubbles house

It’s a small apartment building and it’s almost all covered in glass bubbles. It consists of 13 apartments divided in two blocks, connected on each floor by an atrium. In front of the reinforced concrete structural core, 7,900 blown glass spheres form the playful design of this building. The green glass bubbles are all handmade in a Guadalajara workshop. They hang from the roof along steel cables, each ball being fastened to the support by a disc in EPDM, which is a sort of rubber with high weather resistance. It’s a great way of creating a firm building, with a clear design, which sets your imagination free while giving the impression of immateriality. Doesn’t it remind you of soap bubbles?
It’s a great design from Hierve-Diseneria practice with its leading architect Alejandro Villarreal.
