“Crazy House”

tel aviv art nouveau  crazy house
The city of Tel Aviv is literally an open museum of the International Style architecture, which has been brought by the architects of European background, who used the ideas of the modernist movement flourishing in Europe in the 1930s. Maybe the most powerful influence comes from the Bauhaus style, with it’s cubic forms, it’s lac of ornaments and it’s pure forms. Among the many Bauhaus style buildings, the “Crazy House” got her name because of it’s Art Nouveau style. Built in the 1980’s this residential unit has probably been inspired by Antonio Gaudi’s architecture. It’s organic shapes, it’s mural paintings and sculptures, every detail of it’s design it’s opposite to most of the buildings in the city. Never the less the building is very much appreciated, many artist, art-dealers and other very successful persons are living here.
