Copan Building

This is considered to be the largest condominium in the world. 40 floors of apartments that vary from 26 to 300 square meters make a total of 1160 living units. They are completed by a series of commercial spaces accessible to any inhabitant. This 140m high building was built in Sao Paolo by Oscar Niemeyer in the mid ‘60s. Despite its dimensions and its reinforced concrete structure, the elegant shape it displays could have been a great lesson for many communist blocks of flats. With the slim “S” design, the Copan building soon became a landmark for the city’s modern architecture while delicately waving between the neighboring buildings.
